Taking its name from a prevalent theme of the age of Louis XIV, Le Tendre Amour is based in Barcelona, though its members are originally from many corners of the world. Since their beginning, the emphasis has been in creating unusual programs, always with the aim of pleasing audiences of all ages.
The ensemble, directed and organized by Katy Elkin and Esteban Mazer, has performed in top early music festivals in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Holland, France, Croatia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and Spain. In 2008 Le Tendre Amour was awarded the prize for best interpretation at the Varazdin Baroque Evenings festival (Croatia) for their program of Jewish baroque music.
Over the past few years, their artistic interest has turned towards the field of chamber opera, although they continue performing various repertoires in their original format of seven musicians. (See our “Programs” page for details).
Le Tendre Amour has recorded a CD of sacred French cantatas for the label K617 (France) called Le Passage de la Mer Rouge. Their next release is a CD of English music called “All in a Garden Green” for the label Brillant Classics (Holland), available March 2012.

Prize for Los Elementos
The name of the Spanish baroque composer Antonio Literes (1673 – 1757) has so far been unknown to us, and we dare to assert that in this respect we are not alone. However, after the guest appearance of the ensemble Le Tendre Amour...

REVIEW: ESTHER IN SABADELL

REVIEW: PRODUCTION LOS ELEMENTOS (A. LITERES)
“A Fascinating Whirlwind: Los Elementos mixed baroque music with a bit of humor in a very lively performance at the Trigonale festival. Le Tendre Amour captivated St. Veit with Los Elementos by Antonio de Literes. Street theater and circus director Adrián Schvarzstein created the framework for directing the tumultuous sequence of twelve arias, which are divided among the four allegorical elements plus time. They charmed the audience with slapstick action while…”

REVIEW: PRODUCTION LA SERVA PADRONA (G.B.PERGOLESI)
La Serva Padrona: a perfect 10 – Ramón Gener "Yesterday, I went to the Teatro de Sarrià to see the second and unfortunately the last performance of the intermezzo “La Serva Padrona” by Giovanni Batista Pergolesi. REVIEW: LE DEVIN DU VILLAGE
Captivating performance of Rousseau´s stroke of genius - "The concierge does not want to let the ensemble le Tendre Amour into the Rossini-Saal in Bad Kissingen. Without further ado the musicians and actors subdue the warden and bind him. Thus they make it to the stage – and the opera begins. That´s how the lively theater-evening started, in which the internationally renowned baroque ensemble Le Tendre Amour performed J. J. Rousseau´s one-act opera “Le Devin du Village”. What followed was a display of musical and scenic fireworks...."

REVIEWS : RECORDING LE PASSAGE DE LA MER ROUGE
"This disc [K617 - Le Passage de la Mer Rouge] deserves nothing but praise. First of all, we get acquainted here with a little-known genre...nothing of Bousset has ever been recorded before. Also highly commendable is the fact that the pronunciation of the French texts is strictly historical. Luanda Siqueira has a beautiful voice, and sings with great understanding and much expression...."

REVIEW: CONCERT "LE DIVINE PRÉCIOSITÉ"
“From the dark aisle of the church, a voice rose, and the narrator walked forward with a candle in her hand, quoting from a text by Jean Racine. Then from the dark depths of the Cathedral a soprano softly sang as an introduction to the instrumental ensemble, “Le Tendre Amour”. Songs about Fear, Virtue, Hope, and Joy – the four parts of the evening – were by composers such as JB Lully and F Couperin. Luanda Siqueira – a beautiful, crystal clear, flexible soprano…”

REVIEW: ALL IN A GARDEN GREEN
"Closing the 10th Samobor music festival this year was a performance by early music ensemble Le Tendre Amour from Barcelona with the program All in a Garden Green, which caused great audience approval in the Samobor Franciscan church on 10th October. Various combinations of instrumentation, a creative selection of repertoire, refined performance, and passionately dedicated members of this specialized ensemble, opened a rich array of emotional and spiritual nuances of beautiful music to the listener".

REVIEWS: LE DEVIN DU VILLAGE
This year, Styriarte finished its festival with an enchanting show in the Eggenberg Castle. Theater artist Adrián Schvarzstein staged the ensemble “Le Tendre Amour” as a motley crew which authentically brought “Le Devin du Village” to life, a work in one act by Jean Jacques Rousseau that is about love´s happiness and confusion. Schvarzstein and the three singers were brilliant in their interaction with the audience, and Thomas Höft acted as the flustered owner of the castle: delightful scenes which almost distracted from the outstanding orchestra performing ….

CONCERT AND REVIEW: ALL IN A GARDEN GREEN
“Baroque music is far from being old-fashioned and boring, as this has already often been proven. And baroque music is also surprising – which is exactly what happened in the Saint Pölten Baroque Festival last Saturday. Le Tendre Amour, a quite young and completely international ensemble, was invited to perform the opening concert of the festival which took place in the Old Synagogue.”.

REVIEW: LE PASSAGE DE LA MER ROUGE
A different kind of concert : within the cultural activities presented by the Casa Sefarad Israel this March was the concert « Le Passage de la Mer Rouge, » which, with its texts in French and Hebrew, fit well into their theme. The music was of practically unknown composers, and if it were not for these musicians who are dedicated to historical interpretation – this repertoire would never be heard”….

REVIEW: CHAGIGA YEHUDIT – JEWISH CELEBRATIONS
The second aperitif took place in Varaždin’s St Nicholas church (17 Sept) and featured one of the most impressive of the festival’s visiting groups, the Barcelona based Le Tendre Amour, with members from France, Spain, Argentina and the USA. Their programme of Music for Jewish Celebrations reflected the fact that Israel was a key supporting partner for this year’s festival (in recognition of the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel), with Jewish music featuring in a number of programmes.
