“...fantastic both musically and scenically....”
“...cascades of sound as smooth as pearls...”
“...superb instrumental accompaniment...”
“...baroque music with a bit of humor - a very lively performance that charmed the audience with slapstick action.”
KLEINE ZEITUNG, ST VEIT AUSTRIA
FLAMENCO! The mere word dreams up images of a sultry night of passion, intoxicating rhythm, and electrifying dance. And it is in a Spanish bar, in a small town lost in the middle of Andalusia in 1950-something, where our action of Literes´ 1718 opera zarzuela unfolds.
A couple enters the bar. They are clearly in the middle of an argument. Emotions rise until a fandango – the word itself meaning ´quarrel´- erupts, as both music and dance combine to set the stage. The dancers taunt each other in gesture and movement in a “dance-off” of skills.
LOS ELEMENTOS is an 80-minute whirlwind of everything stereotypically Spanish – from tapas to [mock] bullfighting, fandango to flamenco, LOS ELEMENTOS shares a slice of sunny Spain with every member in the audience. Song and dance unite, and the combination is so powerful that one cannot exist without the other.
Rhythm – “zapateos” to “palmas” to castanets – leads to passionate dance. And that dance can only survive with fiery music.
Our cozy Spanish bar models those hotbeds of early flamenco – a place to meet, greet, sing, and dance the night away until the wee hours of the morning. A place where everyone is welcome, and a night of passion awaits you.
